AMERICAN TRIATHLETE HEATHER JACKSON RE-SIGNS WITH CANNONDALE
Next stop…Kona and a custom Cannondale Slice

Cannondale, a premium brand of Cycling Sports Group, part of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), today announced the re-signing of long-time sponsored global triathlete, Heather Jackson.  Since turning pro in 2009, Heather has become known as a dominant force in the 70.3 scene, capturing wins at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside in 2013 & 2015.  In 2015, her focus has been on the full Ironman distance and she will be making her professional Ironman World Championships debut in Kona, Hawaii on October 10th.

“Extending Heather’s contract with Cannondale made sense,” says Scott Rittschof, SVP Global Marketing & Product Development, Cycling Sports Group. “Cannondale has a very unique story and it’s important we invest in athletes that exude our brand ethos.  Heather’s image off the bike is just as cool as her image on the bike winning.”

“As a professional athlete, to have the complete support of Cannondale long-term is beyond compare.  It is the company saying to you: we believe in you, we want to help you reach your goals,” said Heather.

In July, Heather’s Ironman dream came true by taking the win at Ironman Coeur d’Alene and immediately qualified her for this year’s Kona Ironman World Championship. Cannondale will be celebrating Heather’s inaugural pro Kona race with a custom painted Slice.  The color is a nod to her Cannondale family and the design inspiration comes from Polynesian tattooing which symbolizes courage, power, achievement, protection and blessings from the Gods.

“It’s Heather’s first time racing in Kona, so she wants to arrive on the island humble with respect for the people and the culture,” adds Sean Watkins, Heather’s manager and husband.

Heather’s custom paint was applied to the Cannondale Slice Hi-Mod BallisTec Carbon frame, new to the line in 2015.  During development, Heather provided rider feedback to help ensure the design and performance goals were achieved.  The Cannondale Slice has been designed with real-world geometry for real-world triathletes. The bike’s geometry is based on data compiled by thousands of actual fittings done by Cannondale’s Fit Science partner, GURU. The resulting design keeps the rider more centered on the bike while in a tri aero position for the best possible stability, handling and control.
