It was a real challenge to race in the darkest forest of Rotorua: tracks were full of roots, mud and slippery trails but Jérôme liked them. As the top riders were starting last, some sections of the stages were completely different from the practice! Although Jérôme got the skills to read the terrain, he has to adjust his riding style to find the good balance in between speed and avoiding crashes.
Jérôme didn't want to know the result after the different stages as he would like to keep concentrate on his own pace and not being affecting mentally. The key was to ride smooth and hold back! Jérôme was consistent, he won 3 of the 7 stages and has only one crash on the 5th one.
The last stage under the Skyline gondola was the most stressful, by waiting the run of everybody. But Jérôme confirms his ability to be strong in this situation and knows how to win enduro races.
